Listing Workflow

Follow this process for every item you list. Consistency improves search rankings and buyer trust.

1. Sourcing

  • Check Inventory Processing for Grade A and B devices
  • Look for high-demand items first: laptops, servers, enterprise networking, newer desktops
  • Coordinate with the warehouse — do not list items that are not yet fully processed

2. Photographing

  • Use a clean, well-lit background (white or neutral)
  • Take at least 4 photos: front, back, ports/connections, and any cosmetic issues
  • Include a photo of the specs screen (for laptops: BIOS or system info; for desktops: specs label)
  • Photograph serial numbers if required by the platform

3. Describing

  • Title — include brand, model, key specs (CPU, RAM, storage), and condition
  • Description — detailed specs, what is included, what is NOT included, condition notes
  • Condition — use the platform's condition grading accurately (do not over-grade)
  • Specs — fill in all available fields (processor, RAM, storage, screen size, OS, ports)

4. Pricing

  • Research comparable sold listings (eBay: filter by "Sold Items")
  • Price competitively — check the market range and price within it
  • Factor in shipping costs and platform fees
  • For wholesale/bulk, use pricing guidelines from your manager

5. Posting

  • Select the correct marketplace channels in Multi-Channel eCommerce
  • Verify the listing preview before publishing
  • Set appropriate shipping options and handling time

6. Fulfilling

  • When an item sells, pull it from inventory immediately
  • Pack securely — use appropriate box size, padding, and "Fragile" labels for monitors
  • Print the shipping label and update tracking on the platform
  • Ship same-day or next business day

Platform-Specific Tips

eBay

  • Best for: Individual electronics, laptops, servers, components, monitors
  • Titles matter — use all 80 characters with keywords buyers search for
  • Item Specifics — fill in every field; eBay's search algorithm rewards complete listings
  • Free shipping tends to improve placement in search results
  • Respond to questions quickly — buyers often purchase from whoever responds first
  • Maintain feedback — ship on time, describe accurately, communicate proactively

Website / Storefront

  • Best for: Quote requests, bulk purchasing, local pickup items
  • Keep inventory synced — remove items that have sold on other platforms
  • Handle quote requests promptly — business customers expect fast responses
  • Highlight data destruction services — this is a key differentiator for enterprise customers

Wholesale / Bulk

  • Best for: Large lots, commodity materials, pallets of similar items
  • Use Sales Lists to create manifests for weighted and bulk items
  • Price per pound or per unit depending on the material type
  • Coordinate with shipping for pallet and freight shipments
