Overview¶
Scott Recycling is an e-waste recycling company headquartered in the Knoxville/Sunbright, Tennessee area. We provide free pickup and environmentally responsible recycling of electronic equipment for businesses, schools, hospitals, government agencies, and other organizations across 10 states in the southeastern United States.

Company History¶
Scott Recycling was founded in the 1990s with humble beginnings -- assembling 486 computers in a basement. What started as a small operation building and refurbishing PCs grew over more than 20 years into a full-service electronics recycling company with approximately 30 employees, a fleet of box trucks, and a dedicated processing facility.
Key milestones in the company's growth:
- 1990s: Founded as a computer assembly and refurbishment operation
- Early growth: Expanded from building computers to collecting and recycling e-waste from businesses
- Fleet expansion: Added box trucks to provide free pickup service across Tennessee and neighboring states
- Regional expansion: Grew service area to cover 10 states with 144 service locations
- Technology investment: Implemented Odoo ERP system with custom modules for fleet management, customer management, inventory processing, scheduling, KPIs, and reporting
- Scott Plastics division: Added plastics recycling capabilities (HDPE, PET, PP, LDPE/Film, industrial plastics)
- Today: Approximately 30 employees across Admin, Warehouse, Drivers, Sales, Maintenance, and IT departments

- Security: Customer data is sacred. We treat every data-bearing device with the highest level of care and provide documented proof of destruction.
- Environmental Responsibility: Electronics contain hazardous materials. We ensure that every component is handled properly -- recovering what can be recycled and safely disposing of what cannot.
- Convenience: We pick up for free. Our goal is to make recycling so easy that there is no reason not to do it.
- Integrity: We do what we say we will do. Our customers trust us with their equipment, their data, and their compliance obligations.
- Continuous Improvement: We invest in technology, training, and processes to get better every day.

Market Data
Customer counts are based on active customer records in the Odoo system. These numbers change over time as new customers are added and inactive customers are removed. For current counts, use the customer management tools in Odoo.
Geographic Coverage¶
- Primary market: East and Middle Tennessee -- the densest concentration of customers
- Secondary markets: Virginia (especially the Roanoke/New River Valley corridor), Kentucky (Lexington and surrounding areas), and other Tennessee metros
- Expansion markets: North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia, Alabama, and Arkansas
- Remote market: Arizona (specialized service)

Facilities¶
Sunbright Processing Facility¶
The primary processing facility is located in Sunbright, Tennessee. This is where all collected electronics are received, sorted, processed, and prepared for downstream recycling or resale.
